Whatever else GTA 6 turns out to be, it will instantly become the most screenshotted place on the internet. If virtual photography is your thing — or about to become your thing — the waiting months are free training time.

What the trailers teach about light

Both official trailers are, among other things, a lighting showcase: low sun through humidity, neon bounce on wet asphalt, interior glow spilling onto crowds. Three practical bets follow:

  • Golden hour will be the meta. Florida-style atmospherics plus a modern lighting engine means the hour around sunset will do half your work for you.
  • Night is the signature. Every previous Vice-flavored game made neon its identity; expect night shots on the beachfront strip to define the game’s photo culture.
  • Weather is content. Storm shots — that trailer lightning over the coast — will be the rare-condition trophies.

Drills you can run today

In whatever you’re currently playing:

  1. Work a single location for 20 minutes. The discipline of exhausting one spot beats wandering; it’s how you learn to see instead of collect.
  2. Shoot into the light. Backlighting is where game engines flex and beginners flinch.
  3. Add a foreground. The difference between a screenshot and a photograph is usually one palm frond in the near field.

Tip: Build a shot list before launch, the way film photographers do for a trip. Ours starts with: skyline from across the water at dusk, a lowrider under neon, an airboat wake at sunrise, and one perfect storm.

Our fictional hotspot shortlist

On our fictional planning map we’ve marked invented vantage points — a lighthouse, a causeway with skyline views — as a template for the real hotspot map we’ll crowdsource at launch.
